To setup FTP within Dreamweaver
you must define the local & remote site details. To do this start
Dreamweaver MX and access the "Site Map". You can get
to it by pressing F8 on your keyboard to open a section to the right
of screen, followed by selecting the "Site" drop menu & then "New Site..."

4. |

Now skip down to the "Site Map
Layout" screen. All you need to do on this page is find the "Home
Page" of your website using the yellow directory. If you don't
want to fill out this screen at the moment, do it later once your
website design has started. The "Home Page" should be either
index.htm, index.html, index.php, default.htm, default.html or index.php. |

5. Setup of FTP is
now complete. |
| |
Click "OK" to close the "Site
Definition" window.
There are a number of ways to transfer files but the quickest way is to use
your mouse and drag and drop much the same as you would in a File manager program. Pressing
'F8' on your keyboard will bring up the "Files" menu to the right of screen.
You can also use Dreamweaver "Sycronizing" which can be found by
selecting the "Site" drop menu followed by "Syncronize...".
This function will have a look at the files on your computer and the ones on
the web server, then it will work out which files have been changed and only
update those files. Very handy if you don't want to transfer your whole website
everytime.
